Just Do It!

February Challenge: Day 1

The first day of any challenge typically goes well. Once the initial hesitation wears off, a person tends to have the greatest motivation on day one. Hitting the 'Publish' button was a little intimidating. Now or never folks.

After my morning hygiene routine, I stood perplexed in my closet. Was I really going to do this? Let me shine through today? A very meek 'yes'. I chose to wear a Pinterest inspired outfit. A pin I've had forever. I haven't replicated the outfit because I felt insecure. The girl in the picture is adorable, fit, and has shiny hair. FYI... I envy shiny hair. Plus, my jacket isn't nearly as fitted or brown. And my waist isn't as slim. People will notice. My final verdict: Oh well. Bigger problems in this world, Nicole!

Here is me:

Today I stuck to my goal. I was real. I wavered slightly here and there. But never gave into the temptation to try to blend into the background. When I received compliments, I fought against using self-deprecating rebuttals. I caught hell for "dressing up" from the neighbor girls. I told them what I was doing with this 'get real' challenge. My honesty sparked an interesting and heartfelt conversation about our weakness and insecurities. Wow.

I will mark day one a success.
