Gratitude Journal

"What ever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes"
-Lyrics of 10,000 Reasons

Deployment is right around the corner. It’s not a happy time in life. These are the times when I dig deep to write my gratitude journal. We had a nice “goodbye” dinner with Darin’s family…I’m thankful for that. It was a decent day, weather wise…I’m thankful for that. I photographed my friend’s family…I’m thankful for that.

What I am most thankful for is this morning’s message at church. It always amazes me when the message speaks to my life at that moment. Even the worship music was perfectly planned for me.  Well, probably not JUST me, but me and everyone else at church this morning. I am so thankful I have my faith in God during these stressful times. It gives me comfort when I feel like crying or running away.

From the beginning I knew this time was coming. Things aren’t quite peachy and thankful isn’t my feeling of choice. However, this is when I know it is most important to recognize there are always blessings in life. And whatever you may be facing good and bad, I hope you find time to reflect on your blessings.

  1. Gratitude is always a blessing. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. xo L

  2. Thank you for the sacrifice, and for this post. I think it can be so easy to just say "I don't agree with the war/president/current events" and not think of the individual people involved in the daily intricacies of those things. I want to thank you for not only the sacrifice of yourself and Darin, but for this post, the reminder to reflect on our blessings, great and small, during all the times in our lives.

  3. Kristin, thank you for your support. I would love for everyone to understand that the sacrifices the military make is not always because they individually support a person or agenda. It's because they support freedom and put their faith in our leaders that the mission assigned is to fight for that freedom. I just happened to love one of the guys who thought that sounded like a great job :)
