I'm Pinspired
As many of you know, I am a self proclaimed Pinterest addict. I love everything about it. My favorite things to pin are fashion and food. Typical girl, no?!? I'm not sure if you are into Pinterest or if you ever get around to making your pins but it's one of my favorite things to do! I even have a board devoted to pins I have tried. Now, that may be a true sign of a Pinterest addict. When you have to start keeping track of your Pinterest experiments!
Although baked goods make way yummier Pinterest experiments, I also experiment with my fashion pins. I can't duplicate every outfit I like. I wish I could! My wardrobe is a bit more limited. When it comes to outfits, I try to use my pins as inspiration. I copy colors or styles instead. Sometimes it's a great big fail and other times not so bad. Here are a few of my October Pinterest outfits.
Having a cheat sheet sure makes the morning routine go a little smoother.

The Funny Thing About Military Spouses
I've written countless times about the weird bond military spouses seem to have. I'm not sure I will ever be able to explain it. We tend to be a little more open, a little more outgoing, and a bit more aggressive when it comes to making friends. Most of us have learned if you want to stay sane in this lifestyle, then you are going to need a couple girlfriends within arms reach. And with PCS (moving) schedules averaging about three years, a person has to act fast! Even if you are moving every three years, the friends you make probably won't be on the same moving schedule as you. This means you are constantly making new friends because your "old" ones are moving. Yes, it's exhausting but I think we get used to it.
Now that I am living off base and working off base, I am finding my potential friend base is non-military. While I do believe in the benefits of non-military friends and highly encourage military spouses to seek out non-military friends, the problem is they move a lot slower down friendship lane. (Which is a complete generalization, I promise!) I'm ready to invite my new friends over to Thanksgiving dinner and they are still in 'third date' mode. Like, hmm, not really sure if this is going to work out kind of thing. While my civilian friends still are making small talk asking all the preliminary questions that my military spouse buddy and I would have covered within the first 20 minutes of meeting at the park; I'm ready to cut through the introductions and start having some fun!
Enter my new military blogger friends! We had our second blogger meetup this weekend, you will have to check out our first one HERE. Our little group of five met at South Coast Winery in Temecula. We had a short wine tasting and enjoyed lunch on the patio. Our conversation changed from exploring the area to jobs and job seeking and more. We joked and laughed and even crossed some 'second date' boundaries. By the time we walked around the South Coast Wineryproperty, we were definitely talking long term commitment to our little military spouse blogger group. And brain storming ways to keep our group growing! I think it goes back to that moving schedule thing.

Gratitude Journal
My friend, Katie, from Going Coastal is hosting a month of thanksgiving linkup. I thought participating in the linkup would be a great time to bring back Sunday Gratitude Journal. I can look back on my week of phone pics and reflect on the good. As I mentioned a few short days ago, I really want to make sure I don't get caught up with the whole Christmas countdown. I want to savor November!
Most of my week is all about work and kids. I don't get too much down time Monday through Thursday. After my kiddos go to bed, I either clean or clean then have my computer time. The weekends are my time to slow life way down and really concentrate on individual time with everyone (husband and kids). Lately, the weekends have been just as busy. We have one more busy weekend to knock out then we should be ready for a slow one again. I'm thankful for that!
Speaking of those moments of quality time with the kids. I had one of those moments with Zac. We put our brains together and built this shelf. I am totally inept at building anything. Me and a 10 year old are equal partners. Yes, we had to build it up and take it apart several times but we finished. I love these moments. So thankful for my kids. For the age they are now. For helpers.
Halloween night. I'm not a big fan of Halloween. Not really sure why. The kids love it. I like to see the kids have fun. I am thankful we had a safe, fun, and relatively mellow Trick or Treat night.
I'm thankful for my job.
Which allows me time to visit our other sites to train and get ideas for my own site.

It's Here, November is Here!
November 1st is one of my most favorite days. I feel like we have raised the veil on the holiday season. I look forward to Thanksgiving. It's one of my favorite holidays. A toss up with Easter but too close to really choose one. I love the food. I love hanging with family. I love focusing on gratitude. I love waking up early and watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in my pjs. I love a relatively lazy day. I love the idea of Christmas around the corner. Grabbing a second piece of pie and combing Black Friday ads.
I try my best to enjoy the days of November. Not to rush this season. I try to really focus on Thanksgiving. Gratitude. Giving to others. Enjoying the moments. I hope you do to. I really do. Sometimes, I feel that the powers that be, i.e. retail stores, want to keep us thinking about buying stuff. Getting a head start. Staying ahead of the game. I just want to go against the flow this month. I want to devote three weeks to concentrating on what I already have. Then I will think about what I still "need". I promise Target, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Old Navy, and Toys R Us; I will not ignore you forever.
There is one thing needing to be done before we say goodbye to October. Share Trick or Treat pictures.
Last night, we went trick or treating for the first time in my children's lives...off base. It isn't a major thing but it's something for us...or maybe just me. I'm sentimental, what can I say?
Let's try this again! Last night, the kids got to go trick or treating. The boys dressed up as two characters from the wildly popular, Minecraft game. Others might call them blockheads or Lego guys or box head guys. Hopefully not in front of a 7-12 year old boy, if you don't want to be lectured on all things Minecraft.

Love to see my kids having a great time and being kids. I suppose it makes walking three miles in the dark, carrying masks & costume pieces, and picking up spilled candy baskets (twice) worthwhile!
