Moving to the New House

If you follow me on Instagram, then you've seen this picture.
My lovely daughter set me up with this free Instagram collage app and I kind of like it.
It makes everything look prettier.

We closed on the house. Which means everything went flawlessly and VA loan did not give us headaches like we expected. But I will write more about those things later when I have time.

It also means the house is ours. Very exciting!
And we have to clean. And paint. And move all our stuff. And clean the base house.
And change our address at every place of business we use. And buy a refrigerator. And gas dryer. And set up some utilities we haven't switched yet.

I forget how exhausting moving is, especially when TMO (acronym for military movers)
isn't doing it for you!
God Bless TMO...really...they make moving a breeze!
Even if they break your stuff and bend your bike tires so you can't ride them.
They have packing down to a science and right now, I really wish they would come in this house
and pack everything up in three hours.

Here is someone not excited about the move.
Charlie is having a really hard time adjusting.
We have taken him to the new house every day since we've got the keys.
And it is just stressing him out.
Literally trying to attack anyone within walking distance.
That dog aggravates me to no end.
He has a pretty cute face, yes, but he has some bad bad habits/traits.
I hope once we are all moved into the new house, he will chill out a little.

I hope I didn't bore you with all that dog talk.
Owning a pet is a new thing for me and it amazes me how much like little humans they can be.

We have started painting the kids bedroom. We will do the other rooms after we move in.
Definitely amateurs, my husband and I. It took us 6 hours to paint one 10 x11 room yesterday.
And we didn't even finish. And we ran out of paint.
And my husband used gasoline to clean the brushes. In the house.
You can move a country boy to the city but they never change.
Never. Change.
They will still clean paint brushes in your house with gasoline
and use the family car to transport the lawn mower
and run the gigantic propane BBQ grill right through your house
just so they don't have to carry it around the house

It's a constant battle.

Clearly...I'm a little overwhelmed.
We went from houses, to dogs, to husbands in less than 500 words.

Enjoy your weekend.

  2. Love it!!! So exciting it's yours! I love that paint color too. I tell Parker all the time I have no idea what we are going to do when the military doesn't move us anymore- we literally don't have to lift a finger. We've been spoiled haha

  8. This is still so recent, congratulations! Owning a house is a big step to take as it is, but my praise is also for surviving the house buying. We all have nightmares in the field. Anyway, it's good to hear you didn't have problems with the VA loan. It is such a significant contribution to the whole payment.
